Why would I want clear tiles instead of the pretty colors?

Are the 2 base plates in this bundle really necessary?

They are a total gamechanger, mate. Trying to build a tall clear "skyscraper" or an ice castle on carpet without a base plate is a recipe for frustration. These big 30x30cm plates anchor your build and allow you to build twice as high. Plus, since they’re clear, they don't spoil the "ice" look of your creation.

Do the clear tiles get foggy or scratched over time?

Like all plastic toys, they can pick up some fine scratches from rough play on hard floors. However, the Connetix beveled design does a great job of protecting the main surface. To keep them looking crystal clear, just give them a gentle wipe with a damp cloth now and then. Avoid any harsh chemicals that might cloud the plastic.

Can I use these with my Rainbow tiles?

For sure! They are 100% compatible. Using the clear tiles as "skylights" or "windows" in a rainbow house looks brilliant. It really expands the creative possibilities and helps the kids think about architectural elements like light and transparency.

Is this set enough to build a whole castle?

It’s a great starter for a "mini" castle, but most kids will use it as an expansion to their existing colored sets. The 36 pieces give you a lot of variety (including those cool hexagons!), but for a truly epic Elsa-style ice palace, you might eventually want to add another pack or some more base plates.

We live in a sunny part of Sydney, do these create rainbows on the wall?
