HolzWald Tiger

This tiger measures 7.1cm tall, 14cm long and 2.5cm wide, giving it a long low stance on four carved legs. The broad base keeps it steady on a shelf, play mat or windowsill, so a child can pose it mid-prowl without it toppling over.

At 14cm long it is one of the more elongated pieces in the range, built to read as a big cat rather than a cub. The painted stripes and lean body make it easy to tell apart from rounder shapes like the bear or hedgehog when children sort their collection.

Each tiger is handmade in a small workshop in Georgia that has carved wooden figures since 1997. Local wood is shaped by hand, the edges are rounded through several sanding steps, then the piece is painted with natural Biofa dyes and finished with oil.

The tiger is one solid piece of wood with no small detachable parts, and every edge is rounded and sanded smooth. Toddlers can grip and carry it under supervision, and older children can add it to more detailed imaginative scenes.

Set it in a pretend jungle or savanna where it can stalk, rest or lead a group of other animals. Paired with the camel, zebra or fox from the same range, it helps children build simple stories about where each creature lives and how it moves.

Wipe it with a dry or barely damp cloth and dry it right away. Keep it out of water, never put it in a dishwasher, and store it away from long hours of direct sun so the natural dyes stay rich over time.

Because each one is carved and painted by hand, the grain and stripe placement vary a little from piece to piece. Your tiger carries small marks of the maker, so no two are quite identical.
