This set uses 18 real photographs of children from around the world rather than drawn characters. The children appear in traditional dress from places such as Sweden, Bavaria and Saudi Arabia, among others. Seeing real faces can make the figures feel relatable and helps spark genuine conversations about the people they represent.

Playing with figures that show many cultures, languages and appearances lets children see both themselves and others reflected in their play. As they role-play and tell stories, they build a sense of who they are and where they belong. Noticing similarities and differences also encourages empathy and respect for their wider community.

There are 18 pieces in the set, varying in size, with the largest figure around 7 by 4cm and the smallest about 5.5 by 2cm. This range gives a natural family of characters to play with. The compact sizes are easy for children to stand up, group and pack away.

They are made with FSC New Zealand pine, with images printed using non-toxic heat transfer technology and sealed under a clear matt varnish. This keeps the photographs looking bright through years of handling. Wipe the figures with a dry or barely damp cloth, avoiding soaking, to protect the wood and print.

It is suitable for children aged 1 year and over. The chunky figures are easy for younger children to hold and stand up, while older children build detailed stories and conversations around them. This makes the set useful from toddler play through the early primary years at home or in the classroom.
