Is this a standalone set or an expansion?

It's an expansion. With 48 feature shapes and no basic squares, it adds new angles to a collection you already own rather than starting one. Pair it with a Pastel Creative or Starter pack.

What can children build with the Connetix Shape Expansion Pack?

Quarter circles become winding roads, castle domes, pizzas and pies; large right-angle triangles make rocket fins, car ramps and supports. The set unlocks curves and 3D forms flat tiles can't make.

Does it connect with rainbow Connetix and Magna-Tiles?

Yes. The pastel shapes click onto rainbow and pastel Connetix, ball runs and base plates. They also join Magna-Tiles, with slight differences in size and colour tone.

What does it teach?

The new shapes bring maths into play: children explore fractions, measurement, location and transformation as they build, and practise critical thinking on 2D and 3D designs.

Is it safe, and what age is it for?

Tiles are non-toxic ABS that is BPA, lead and phthalate free, with magnets ultrasonically welded and riveted inside. Ages 3+; it has strong magnets and small parts, so keep it from children who mouth toys and seek help if a magnet is swallowed.
