Grimm’s Stacking Cave Large

Also known as the cave, stone or earth, this is a versatile wooden stacking puzzle made of five pieces that represent the element of earth. Small children stack, sort and build with it, and as they grow it becomes part of imaginative play in many different ways.

The stacking cave is made from lime wood finished with a non-toxic water based colour stain. Because it is a natural wooden toy, each piece can show its own grain and small markings, which are part of the character of the timber rather than faults in the finish.

Younger children stack and sort the five pieces or fit them back together like a puzzle. Older children use the cave in small world play as a fence for animals, a tunnel for vehicles, or a house for dwarfs and dolls. It also suits a seasonal or nature table.

The set comprises five wooden pieces and measures about 16 cm in length. The nesting shapes stack together into a rounded cave form, and because the pieces are chunky they are easy for small hands to pick up, arrange and rebuild time after time.

Grimm's recommend the stacking cave for children aged 1 year and over. It grows in use over time, starting with simple stacking and sorting for toddlers and moving into storytelling and construction as children get older. Supervise young children with the separate wooden pieces during play.
