Stuka Puka Dinosaur Skeleton Puzzle

The set models Scipionyx, a small predatory dinosaur and one of only two species preserved in mummified form. It is a 3 layer build: the first shows body parts, the second the skeletal system, and the third the internal organs. Lifting each level takes you a little deeper inside the animal.

These childrens wooden puzzles let kids take a dinosaur apart layer by layer instead of just looking at a picture. Building the body, then the skeleton, then the organs makes prehistoric anatomy hands-on and memorable. Young palaeontologists get to rebuild Scipionyx as often as they like and see how it was put together.

Working through the three layers introduces the skeletal system, the main body parts and how the internal organs are arranged. Because Scipionyx survived as a mummified fossil, its organ layout is actually known, so the model reflects real science. It is a friendly way into prehistory and how animal bodies are built.

Stuka Puka developed the model with Lukasz Czepinski, a PhD student at the Faculty of Biology of the University of Warsaw and the owner of the dinozaury.org website. That input shapes the skeleton and organ layers, so the celurosaurus you build reflects current knowledge about how Scipionyx looked inside.

The model has 36 elements plus a frame and a cover. The puzzle layer is 5 mm thick, sitting on a 3 mm base with a 3 mm cover, so each level feels solid as you stack it. The frame keeps the layers aligned while children build the dinosaur up from the inside out.

It is a wooden model painted with an odourless clear varnish, made to be handled through repeated builds. It suits preschoolers aged 3 to 6 with help, and older children and adults from 6 up who want the full anatomy. The theme makes it a strong gift for any dinosaur fan.
