Filana Organic Beeswax Crayons, 8 Standard Sticks with brown/black

This standard stick set holds Lemon Yellow, Brilliant Orange, Red, Purple, Blue, Emerald Green, Brown and Velvet Black. The Brown and Velvet Black round out the palette for outlines, shading and darker details that the brighter rainbow colours cannot reach.

Sticks work well for lines, lettering and detail thanks to their slim shape, while the block version handles broad areas more easily. The colours, the 20% organic beeswax recipe and the creamy feel are the same across both, so it is really a matter of drawing style.

Ordinary crayons are usually paraffin and petroleum wax made in large factories. Filana instead hand-pours small batches around 20% organic beeswax, producing a natural alternative to conventional crayons with a smoother, creamier stroke that children tend to notice quickly.

The sticks apply smoothly and leave a creamy finish, letting colour go down evenly without heavy pressure. Balanced amounts of natural wax and pigment keep the lines clean, so young artists can layer and blend without the wax flaking away.

Filana was founded by David Kennedy, a Waldorf educator with expertise in colour theory and artist grade pigments. His approach to colour shapes this standard stick set, where every shade is mixed and hand-poured in small batches.

Filana recommends it for preschoolers aged 3 to 6 and for older children and adults from 6 and above. The slim sticks suit children who like detail, while the depth of Brown and Velvet Black appeals to older artists as well.
