Lyra Twin-hole Triangular Shaped Colourful Pencil Sharpener

This twin-hole sharpener is built for chunky pencils. Its two openings take shafts up to about 1cm across in either hexagonal or triangular shapes, so it fits Colour Giants, Super Ferby and the shorter Ferby. Standard slim pencils can wobble in the wide holes, so it works best with the thick Lyra ranges it was matched to.

The twin holes are cut in different sizes so you can match the opening to the barrel you are sharpening. One suits the widest giant shafts while the other handles slightly narrower triangular pencils. Having both means you get a clean point on either style without swapping tools or forcing a pencil into the wrong sized hole.

A clip-on lid covers the blades and collects shavings inside the body as you twist. That keeps loose curls off the table and out of small fingers, and lets you carry the sharpener in a pencil case without scattering mess. Empty it by lifting the lid over a bin when the chamber fills up.

Yes. The sides carry soft rubber panels that give a firmer, less slippery hold than smooth plastic. A child can steady the body in one hand and turn the pencil with the other without it spinning away. The chunky triangular shape also rests naturally against small palms.

The body comes in pink, red, yellow, green or blue, and the colour is picked at random from stock. If you have a preference, add your top two choices in the order note at checkout and we will try to match one, though we cannot guarantee a specific colour.

It was matched to the Lyra Groove pencils but suits the whole thick Lyra family. Pair it with the unlacquered Colour Giants or the Super Ferby box so their wide barrels sharpen to a neat point without splitting the soft lead.

Insert the pencil, hold the body steady and turn slowly with light pressure. Stop as soon as a point appears rather than grinding on, because the thick pigment core is soft and can crumble if over sharpened. A few careful turns give a rounded working tip that suits bold colouring.
