Grimm’s 7 Friends in 7 Bowls

The set brings together seven wooden peg dolls and seven matching wooden bowls. Each peg doll is hand painted in its own colour, so children can sort and match the little folk to their bowls. The pieces are a comfortable size for small hands and work well for early sorting, counting and colour matching games.

The bowls and peg dolls are made from alder and maple wood, finished with a non toxic water based colour stain and a non toxic plant based oil finish. Each doll is hand painted, so slight variations between pieces are part of the handmade character rather than a defect.

Grimm's give an age group of 1 year and up. Toddlers enjoy posting the dolls in and out of the bowls, while older children use them for colour sorting, matching and small world play. As always with smaller pieces, supervise very young children during play.

The frame that holds the set measures about 19 cm in diameter. Each peg doll stands roughly 6.5 cm high with a diameter of about 3 cm. This size makes the dolls easy for small hands to grasp, lift and drop into their matching bowls during sorting games.

The set is open ended, so play can grow along with the child. Younger children practise dropping the dolls into the bowls and tipping them out again, while older ones sort by colour, count the friends or weave them into imaginative scenes. The little folk also fit neatly inside the Grimm's bus.
