Grimm’s Pebbles Fire

The Fire set contains four smooth wooden pieces shaped like organic pebbles, coloured in shades of yellow through to red. Each pebble is roughly 2.5 cm high with lengths between 6 and 12 cm. The warm colours and rounded stone shapes are appealing to both the eye and the touch.

The pebbles are made for imaginative floor play. Children stack and balance the round shapes, finding just the right point of balance, and add them to small worlds of their own making. A pebble might edge a river made from a silk scarf, build a cave, create a stony landscape or form a cairn.

Grimm's gives an age guide of 1 year and over. Younger children like to hold and stack the smooth shapes, while older ones fold them into elaborate small world scenes and balancing challenges. This broad age range lets the same set stay in use across several years of play.

The Fire pebbles are made from lime wood and finished with a non-toxic water based colour stain, which lets the wood grain show beneath the yellow and red tones. Since they are cut from natural wood and coloured by hand, small differences between pebbles are normal and are not faults.

Balancing the uneven, organic shapes develops fine motor control, patience and concentration as children work out how the stones sit together.
