Grimm’s Puzzle Landscape

It is a wooden puzzle depicting a sunset across a landscape, made up of 14 shaped building blocks set in a wooden frame. Children fit the pieces back into the frame to recreate the picture, or lift them out to build and play with each block on its own.

The organic shapes let children create three dimensionally, forming flowing landscapes, hills, mountains, water, trees, houses and caves. This block play develops fine motor skills and spatial thinking, and works both as a puzzle to solve and as open ended building material for small world scenes.

The recommended age group is 3 years and up. At this age children enjoy the challenge of returning the blocks to their original pattern, and have the coordination to balance and stack the pieces into their own three dimensional shapes.

The wooden frame measures 28cm by 28cm, and the single blocks are 2cm thick. This gives a solid, chunky puzzle that is easy for small hands to pick up and rearrange, whether solving the landscape picture or building freely away from the frame.

The puzzle is made from lime wood, finished with a non-toxic water based colour stain and a non-toxic plant based oil finish. As the wood is natural, grain and colour vary between pieces, so each puzzle carries its own subtle markings rather than a uniform look.

Yes. Once the blocks are out of the frame they mix naturally with other Grimm's building pieces and loose parts. You can extend the building play with more items from our Grimm's building collection for larger landscapes and scenes.

Wipe the blocks and frame with a dry or slightly damp cloth and avoid soaking them, as water can affect the wood and finish. Store the puzzle flat in a dry place out of direct heat and sun so the colours stay rich over time.
