Grimm’s Toys

The Grimm's Rainbow is one of the most open-ended wooden toys — children stack it, nest it, and use the arches as tunnels, bridges, fences, garages or small-world landscapes. There's no single way to play, which is why one rainbow is used in dozens of ways and stays a favourite for years.

Grimm's toys are made from lime wood (also called linden), coloured with water-based, non-toxic stains and finished with a plant-based oil, so the natural grain shows through. The paints and oils are certified to the EN 71 toy-safety standard. The chunky pieces are crafted in Germany and Bosnia, and natural variation in colour and grain is part of their handmade character.

Beyond the rainbow, Grimm's is known for stacking and building sets, wooden birthday rings and candle holders, bowls, loose parts and pull-along toys. The range shares the same open-ended, natural-wood philosophy, so pieces combine beautifully for building and imaginative play.

Wipe Grimm's toys with a barely damp cloth and dry them straight away — never soak or dishwash them, as water and heat can raise the grain or fade the water-based colour. An occasional rub of natural wood oil restores lustre. Stored dry, a Grimm's set stays beautiful for many years.

Grimm's spans babyhood to primary years. Large rainbows and chunky pieces suit babies and toddlers for stacking, while smaller pieces and complex building sets engage older children. Keep smaller parts for ages 3 and up. Because they're open-ended, the same set is used in new ways as children grow.
