    • Frequently Asked Questions

    What does HolzWald make?

HolzWald makes wooden animal figures — a wide range of realistic, hand-finished animals from around the world, including Australian favourites. The solid wooden figures are made for small-world and imaginative play and for collecting.

How do children play with HolzWald animals?

Children use the wooden animals in small-world play — building farms, zoos, forests and habitats, giving each animal a role in invented stories. They pair with blocks, loose parts and play silks for landscapes, developing language, empathy and imaginative storytelling.

What age are HolzWald animals for?

Chunky wooden animals suit toddlers from around age 2 for simple play, while the wider range engages preschool and school-age children in detailed small-world scenes. Keep any smaller figures for older children, and supervise little ones who still mouth toys.

    Can you collect HolzWald animals?

Yes — with a broad range of species, HolzWald animals are lovely to collect, building a whole wooden menagerie over time. Adding new animals keeps small-world play growing, and the solid, hand-finished figures are durable enough to hand down between children.

    Are wooden animals educational?

Playing with realistic animal figures builds knowledge of wildlife, habitats and the natural world, alongside language and storytelling as children name and role-play them. Open-ended and durable, HolzWald animals combine learning about nature with rich imaginative play.
