What is the Magic Wood 48cm marble run tree?

It is the smaller of the two Magic Wood sounding trees, standing 48cm high on a 15 by 15cm base. Drop a marble at the top and it weaves down through the stained leaves, ringing a different tone at each leaf until it reaches the base.

How is the 48cm tree different from the 72cm version?

Both trees work the same way, but this one is shorter at 48cm with a smaller 15 by 15cm base, so it takes up less room on a shelf or table. The taller 72cm tree gives the marble a longer path and more tones on the way down.

What wood and finish are used on the tree?

The tree is made in Poland from eco-friendly white maple wood and hard birch, coloured with natural plant dyes and finished with flax seed oil. The stained leaves keep the wood surface tactile, so you can still feel the grain under the colour.

How many marbles are included?

It comes with a set of six marbles in different colours. Send one down to follow a single run of tones, or release a few together to hear the leaves ring in an overlapping pattern as the marbles travel down the tree.

Why does the marble make sounds as it falls?

As the marble drops it strikes each leaf in turn, and every leaf gives a slightly different tone. The result is a soft, changing melody that many children find calming to watch and listen to as the marble rolls down again and again.

Is the medium tree okay for a three year old?

It carries a recommended age of 3 years and up. Because it includes a small ball that poses a choking hazard, it is not suitable for children under 3. Supervise play where younger siblings are nearby and store the marbles safely afterwards.

Does it suit smaller play spaces?

Yes. With a 15 by 15cm base and a 48cm height it fits neatly on a bedside table, low shelf or play corner. It is a good choice where the larger 72cm tree at /products/magic-wood-marble-run-tree-large-72cm would be too tall.
