Mader Spinning Turn Top Rainbow

The turnaround, or turn over, top does something surprising: as it spins it flips upside down and finishes balanced on the tip of its handle. This physical trick makes it one of the more captivating tops to watch and sets it apart from a standard spinner.

It is hand crafted from a single piece of maple wood, then painted and varnished in a rainbow design. Being turned from one piece gives it the balance it needs to perform its flip, and the finish keeps the colours smooth and bright.

Mader rates it three out of six, a medium level. The flip happens on its own once you spin it well, so the challenge is in giving it a clean, strong launch to trigger the turnaround.

It stands about 4.2 cm high with a diameter of 3.2 cm, a compact size that is easy to grip and spin on a tabletop. The small stature suits both children and adults who enjoy watching the flip.

Each Turn Top comes in rainbow colours, either starting with red on top and ending with purple at the bottom, or the other way around. The exact arrangement varies, so your top has its own colour order.

It is recommended for ages three and over and is not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts. It is handmade in Austria by Mader Kreiselmanufaktur, who also craft skipping ropes, kaleidoscopes and yo-yos.
