Bauspiel Fairy Windows Coloured with tray (12 Piece Set)

The set has 12 coloured wooden fairy window shapes. Each coloured wooden block holds an acrylic coloured window set deep inside the frame, so light shines through a tinted panel rather than a glass gem. The pieces measure 6-15cm long, 5-10cm wide and 2.5cm thick and store in a wooden framed box of 23.5 x 23.5 x 5.5cm.

As translucent building blocks, each piece has a coloured acrylic panel set into the wood, so holding one up to a window or lamp casts a wash of colour. Built into a castle, the tinted windows glow when light passes through, turning a plain structure into a beautiful piece of architecture. Children can mix the colours as the light moves.

This set uses coloured wooden frames with a deep-set acrylic coloured window in each, giving bold, tinted colour throughout. The natural version instead has plain wood frames fitted with clear faceted sparkling stones. Choose the coloured windows for strong, painterly colour, or combine both sets for a mix of solid tint and glittering facets.

Yes. The windows mix and match with other Bauspiel building blocks so children can create their own fairytale scenes, adding glowing windows to towers, walls and gateways. They also work well alongside a castle build, letting kids place coloured panels where the light will catch them and rearrange the colours as a story unfolds.

The set is made in Germany by Bauspiel, a maker known for careful woodwork. The timber edges are polished and pleasant to touch, and the coloured frames are strong and vibrant. That finish means the pieces feel solid in building and hold up to regular play as part of a growing collection.

Placing the deep-set windows into builds develops fine motor control and spatial planning, while the coloured light introduces early ideas about colour mixing and transparency. The fairytale theme draws children into storytelling and imaginative play, and matching or contrasting the twelve shapes adds simple sorting and design choices.

The Fairy Windows Coloured set is recommended for ages 3 and up, with an adult nearby for the youngest builders. All 12 pieces pack back into the wooden framed box, which keeps the acrylic panels protected and the set complete between play sessions. The box also makes the set easy to store on a shelf or carry along.
