Bauspiel Stepped Colour Blocks with tray (100 Piece Set)

The set contains 100 wooden blocks in 10 colours and 10 different lengths, each piece running from 2.5cm up to 25cm long and 2.5cm square in thickness. It comes with a wooden display base measuring 28cm by 28cm, and the maker recommends it for age 3 and up.

These wooden building blocks toys work well for counting, comparing sizes and matching colours, since each length steps up in a clear, gradual order. Children can lay them out as a ten-colour staircase, order them from shortest to longest, or group them by colour, which makes the set a favourite as a classroom maths resource.

Beyond a coloured staircase, children build towers, ramps, rows and patterns using the graded lengths. The mix of sizes lets them balance long pieces on short ones and work out which combinations stay standing. Because the set is not a fixed model, each session can look completely different from the last.

Ordering the ten lengths supports early maths ideas like sequencing, size comparison and simple measuring, while sorting the ten colours builds colour recognition. Stacking and balancing the pieces adds fine motor control and spatial reasoning, so the set covers both hands-on building and early number work in one box.

Yes. Like other Bauspiel timber ranges, these blocks combine with other sets to add height, colour and new shapes to a build. Mixing the graded lengths through a larger structure increases both the play value and the learning value, which is why many families and classrooms collect several sets over time.

The blocks are made from native timber, mainly beech, alder and linden, with edges polished smooth and pleasant to hold. The colours are strong and vibrant. To care for them, wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth, keep them out of standing water and dry them before returning them to the display base.

The set is recommended from age 3 and up. Younger children enjoy stacking and colour sorting, while older children use the graded lengths for counting and measuring games. As a durable German-made set, it works at home and as a shared classroom resource that several children can use at once.
