They are six creamy pastel colours in solid twist-up form. You wind the colour up like a glue stick and paint straight onto the page, with no water, brush or mixing. The soft, muted tones give a gentle finish that differs from bright primary sets.

Each of the six shades is a creamy, muted pastel rather than a bold primary. They layer gently over one another, so they suit soft backgrounds, skies, flowers and calm scenes where you want a lighter, chalky look instead of vivid colour.

The solid colour dries in less than 60 seconds, so pages stop smudging almost straight away. That fast set makes them handy for younger painters who move quickly from one part of a picture to the next without waiting between layers.

They work on a variety of surfaces including paper, card, wood and glass, plus many more. The smooth glide means you get even colour on both rough craft card and slick glass without needing to press hard on the stick.

Because the colour is solid and twists up inside the tube, there is no pot to spill and no water to knock over. You paint directly from the stick, cap it when you finish, and there is very little to clear up afterwards.

Twist the colour back down into the tube after painting and press the cap on firmly so the tip does not dry out or pick up dust. Storing them upright with lids on keeps each of the six pastel shades ready for next time.
