Bauspiel Window Shapes 36 Pieces

The set has 36 wooden building blocks, with six pieces in each of six shapes: cloud, arch, semi-circle, rectangle, triangle and hill. Each block is 2.5cm thick, between 5cm and 10cm high and 6cm to 15cm long. It arrives on a base tray of 34cm by 28cm, and suits children over 3.

These are solid natural timber shapes, not see-through pieces. Unlike the Bauspiel Windows set, which sets a transparent gem in each block, these are opaque wooden shapes finished in natural tones. Their arches, clouds and hills are made for building scenes and outlines rather than for filtering coloured light.

As solid timber pieces they do not let coloured light through the way clear light table blocks do, but they still work on a light box by casting crisp shapes and silhouettes. If you want colour and glow instead, the Bauspiel Windows set with its transparent gems is the better match for light-play.

The arches, hills and clouds let children build houses, bridges, landscapes and fairytale scenes rather than only straight towers. The blocks are made from native timber, mainly beech, alder and linden, with edges polished smooth. Wipe them with a soft, slightly damp cloth, keep them away from standing water and dry them before storing them back on the tray so the 36 pieces stay together and ready for the next build.
