HolzWald Raven

The raven suits woodland and forest scenes, perched on a block, a branch or the roof of a play barn as the watchful bird of the story. Its longer body at 8.8cm gives it presence among smaller creatures, so children often cast it as a messenger or lookout in their tales.

It measures 6.6cm high, 8.8cm long and 2.5cm wide, with the length stretching from beak to tail. The carved base under its feet keeps it upright on a flat surface, so it holds a confident, alert stance rather than needing to be propped against anything.

The bird is carved with a sleek, elongated body and a strong beak, capturing the raven's distinctive silhouette. Coloured with natural Biofa dyes over local wood, the deep tone reads as a raven or crow instantly, giving it a clear character among lighter farm and woodland animals.

Because each figure is open-ended, a single carved piece with no fixed use. The raven can be a story villain, a wise guide or simply a bird in a nature scene. This freedom encourages children to invent narratives and learn about wildlife through their own play.

It is handmade in a small workshop in Georgia that has worked with wood for more than 35 years. The bird is carved from local wood, its edges rounded and finely sanded, then painted with natural Biofa dyes and polished with oil for a smooth, warm feel.

Yes. The whole bird, including beak and tail, is shaped from one piece of wood, so nothing can come loose. The finish is smooth and the corners softened, making it suitable for toddlers and older children who can safely handle a small figure with supervision.
