Freckled Frog Children Around the World

This set is made up of 18 wooden people representing diverse cultures, including African, Scottish, Indian and Russian figures among many others. Each character is brightly coloured and illustrated so children can recognise a wide spread of appearances, dress and backgrounds. The variety opens up conversations about the many communities that make up the wider world.

The illustrated images are printed onto the wood using non-toxic heat transfer technology, then sealed with a clear matte varnish. This keeps the artwork bright and helps the figures stay looking fresh through repeated play. Each piece stands about 6cm high with a 2cm thickness, giving small figures that are easy to stand up and pose.

The figures suit role-playing and storytelling, standing in for characters in a village, family or adventure a child invents. Children can group them, line them up, sort them or fold them into a larger playset alongside blocks and animals. Because there are no rules, play follows wherever the child's imagination leads.

It is suitable for children aged 1 year and over. The simple, chunky shapes are easy for younger children to hold and stand up, while older children use them for more detailed storytelling. This wide age span makes the set useful across toddler and early primary years at home or in the classroom.
