Building each habitat encourages conversations about where different animals and people belong and how each environment works. Children think about what lives where and why, developing early awareness of nature and place while they arrange the scenes.

Children can build one habitat at a time or combine several into a larger world. They sort the animals into the settings where they belong, then role-play scenes within each, which supports storytelling, sorting and imaginative play.

The pieces range from about 30 by 20cm for the largest down to 5 by 5cm for the smallest. This spread of sizes helps children build scenes with a sense of scale and gives them both large backdrops and smaller animals to place within them.

It is suitable for children aged 2 years and over. At this age children enjoy sorting, building and inventing stories, and the sturdy pieces are easy to arrange into scenes and rearrange as their ideas change.

The set is made with FSC New Zealand pine and plywood. Each piece is printed double-sided using heat transfer, so the images stay vibrant from every angle, and they can be wiped clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
