Rainbow Nests is a 36 piece set with 30 eggs in many shades and colours of the rainbow, plus matching nest bowls to sort them into. As open-ended loose parts, children can sort, match, count and stack freely, or follow guided activities like naming colours, so the same set invites many different games.

The eggs come in many shades of each colour, which makes sorting a little trickier and more interesting. Children have to look closely to group similar tones, then match eggs to the right nest bowls. This sharpens colour recognition and visual discrimination beyond simply telling primary colours apart.

The set builds sorting, matching and colour recognition, and it stretches into colour naming and simple counting during guided play. Picking up eggs and placing them in bowls also strengthens fine motor skills, so children practise thinking, language and hand control together while they play with the colours.

The nest bowls are the perfect receptacle for sorting the eggs by colour or shade. They are also stackable, which adds more possibilities, such as building towers, hiding eggs underneath or ordering the bowls by colour. This turns a sorting set into a stacking and counting activity as well.

Each nest bowl is about 11cm in diameter and 5cm tall, and each egg is roughly 4.5cm by 3cm. The eggs are a comfortable size for small hands to grasp and drop into the bowls, and the bowls are large enough to hold and stack easily during sorting games.

The set is made with FSC hugar wood and eucalyptus wood, giving smooth, sturdy eggs and bowls. Wipe the wood with a dry or barely damp cloth rather than soaking it, and store the eggs in their bowls so the full rainbow set stays together and ready for the next sort.
