A good foundation

I'd put off buying this thinking that it wouldn't be needed in a house with carpet - I was wrong! The base plates are really helpful for my 2yo, who can now begin builds however she'd like. The only negative is that the magnets on the edge are not really strong enough for its weight to use at right angles to build using them.

What's in the 2 Piece Base Plate Pack?

Two 30cm x 30cm (12 inch) magnetic building plates, one green and one blue. Each is a large, powerful base that anchors a Connetix build, so towers can climb roughly twice as tall before they start to wobble.

Why add a Connetix base plate to your collection?

The plates give tall and multi-level builds a heavy, stable footing, so spiral ball runs and skyscrapers are far less likely to tip. They also make a portable floor you can lift and move mid-build without it falling apart.

Do they work with all Connetix tiles and other brands?

Yes. The plates hold any standard Connetix tiles, ball run squares and pastel or rainbow pieces. Their magnets also grip other leading magnetic tile brands, though sizing and colour can differ slightly.

How big are the plates and what do they weigh?

Each plate is 30cm x 30cm, about a 12 inch square, and the pair weighs around 1.1kg. The size suits a table or floor and gives a generous footprint for group builds.

What can children make on them?

Beyond taller towers, the plates become the floor of a dollhouse, a car park, a market stall or a landscape for small-world play. Two plates side by side double the building area for shared projects.

Are they safe for young children?

They are tested for ages 3 and up. The bevelled tiles are non-toxic, food-grade ABS that is BPA, lead and phthalate free, with magnets ultrasonically welded and riveted inside. As with all magnetic tiles, keep them from children who mouth toys and seek help if a magnet is swallowed.
