Frequently Asked Questions

What do the Pure Shine wooden Christmas ornaments look like?

Each of the three ornaments is built from stacked wooden shapes. One has a wide rounded centre striped in yellow, natural wood and deep blue with red and yellow details, another pairs a green tapered top with a red sphere and blue base, and the third combines yellow, green and a mottled hand-painted ball.

How many ornaments are in the box?

There are three ornaments, each one a different design, and every piece comes with a natural cord loop already attached. They arrive in Grapat's illustrated cardboard presentation box, which shows a cat at a window with the three shapes hanging above it.

Where can I hang them apart from the tree?

A bare branch in a vase, a window latch, a garland or the ribbon on a wrapped present all work well. Grouped together the three read as a small set, and they also mix easily with other Grapat ornaments such as Kind Folks No8 if you collect the series.

What are they made from?

The pieces are wood coloured with Grapat's water-based dyes and finished with natural waxes and plant-derived oils, so the grain still shows through the paint. Because each one is painted by hand, expect small differences in tone and line from one ornament to the next.

Is there a recommended age?

Grapat gives a recommended age of 3 years and up. They are made as hanging decorations rather than everyday playthings, so with younger children around it is worth hanging them a little higher on the tree and letting little ones look rather than handle them unsupervised.

Do they work as a Christmas gift?

The illustrated box is ready to give as it is, and the packaging is entirely plastic free. Many families bring Grapat ornaments out each December and add a new numbered set every year, so Pure Shine suits anyone already collecting the range or starting one.

How do I store them after the holidays?

Wipe off any dust with a soft dry cloth rather than washing them, then put them back in their original box. Keep the box somewhere cool and dry until next December so the painted wood and cord loops stay in good condition.
