Sarah's Silks Earth Playsilks

This is a set of four Earth silks in Desert, Forest, Ocean and Stone. Each is a 35 by 35 inch square of pure mulberry silk, hand-painted in gently blended natural tones. Together they give children a small palette of earthy colors to build stories around.

The four colorways are Stone in greys, silvers and blues, Forest in mossy greens, Ocean in deep blues and teal, and Desert in golden burnt orange. Each is hand-painted, so the blend shifts a little between silks. These were the brand's first multi-colored silks since the Enchanted range.

The Earth silks support open-ended, imaginative play. A child might lay Ocean as water for boats, drape Forest as grass or trees, use Stone as a mountain path and Desert as sand. The same square becomes something new each day, following the child's own play rather than a set script.

Each Earth Playsilk is a 35 by 35 inch square, a classic size that works for capes, draping and building without being oversized. The set of four gives enough fabric to combine colors in one scene. For a smaller version, the designs also come in a Mini Earth size.

The silks are hand-painted on lightweight, 5 momme, 100% pure mulberry silk. This natural fiber feels soft, drapes easily and carries the blended Earth colors well. Because each square is painted by hand, small differences in tone from silk to silk are normal and give each one its own look.

Hand-wash them in cool water with a mild soap and hang them to dry away from direct sun. Skip the machine and harsh detergents so the hand-painted color holds. A medium iron smooths any creases and brings back the silk's soft shine when they are dry.
